Student Center Mountanuniversität
The project takes advantage of the building's academic role to create public spaces that bring together university activities and the everyday life of Leoben’s residents. Located in a key position between the city and the river, the design not only meets the functional needs of the new study center but also offers additional value to the city. The urban concept extends the city's structure onto the site, forming pathways that lead to a central plaza facing the river and promenade. To enhance these public areas, the new buildings are raised above the ground, expanding the plaza and providing sheltered spaces underneath. This approach ensures open access to all functions and establishes new connections for pedestrians and cyclists between the main square, the Mur River, and the train station. The design also integrates public access to the rooftops, connected by bridges, creating a green urban space for relaxation, play, and leisure.
